Performing Arts Center proposal nixed Demolition work is underway on the bell tower of the North Avenue Presbyterian Church after portions of the structure fell onto the sidewalk next to the police station during Fourth of July weekend. The church, which is currently vacant, had a proposal to be converted into a performing arts center, but that plan is now dead. |

New Rochelle teen charged with burglary, trespassing Voodoo curses have long been played up in Hollywood as something that can alter a person’s mind and behavior. In movies, people are depicted succumbing to pain when a voodoo doll is pricked. Witch doctors have also been portrayed as willing to hurt their victims who cross them. After the arrest of a 17-year-old boy from New Rochelle on Aug. 18 at 4:25 p.m. on Horton Avenue, the question of voodoo’s validity was raised (very briefly), after the boy allegedly put a voodoo hex on a 54-year-old woman. |
